Day 2 Nagano

We had breakfast at the hotel. Then Ying Jie and me when out to take photos around the the Yokoya Onsen Ryokan. We took some pictures of the surrounding areas which had some beautiful sights around.
We were then treated to a Japanese Culture Experience, in which a lady played a tradition music instrument but first she shown us how flower arrangement was done.

After the show, we left Yokoya Onsen Ryokan and we went to the Ryokan. There we learned to how soba was made and we even made our own soba. Personally i felt that it was an amazing experience to make my own soba but honestly speaking I am sick of soba right now and i don't think i would want to touch soba for another 2 months.

We then visited the Ueda City multimedia Information Centre. The Ueda City Multimedia Information Centre specializes in doing animation and we were shown an anime movie that contain places in Ueda by the name of Summer Wars. After the video, we were allowed into the area where they did animation projects. We were also told that anime movies are released faster because they are sub contracted to many firms to do the anime movie.

We then proceed to meet the host family for the home-stay segment of our trip.
We were introduced to our host who was Sato-San and his wife. The first thing we did when we went there was to go to an Onsen (Hot Spring). After that, we went back to the host's house for a Mega dinner which was not only delicious but also sumptuous.

After that I showed some magic trick with a card deck to Moe(she was a neighbour's daughter that Sato-San was looking after). After that we played Uno while Sato-san was watching baseball. Moe then showed us some traditional Japanese games that was played. One of them was a spinning top then looked really simple to play until we tried them. Moe tried it a few times but it did not work. In the end Sato-San took over and showed us how it was done. I took this picture of Moe before she showed me how to play the top

Afterwards Sato-San's wife was showing us a traditional Shinto wedding. As you can see from the picture that there are a lot of photo album

I was quite impress with the photos. Hanif later showed her how a Malay tradition wedding would look like. Talking about cultural exchange. After that we decided to turn in at around 1030pm (Tokyo time). This was the sleeping area.

This was what i wore before sleeping

Trip to Japan (Day1)

Several of us from the diploma of cyber digital and security went for a study trip to Japan during the 24 Sept -2 Oct. Upon landing in Narita Airport which is on the outskirt of Tokyo at around in the morning, the cool morning air greeted us with delight after being on the plane for 6 hours. We then make our way to Odaiba. As we were on the coach we were being told more about Japan by our tour guide Mariko-San. She was telling us some interesting facts like Japan has 70000 islands. We were also told that Ginza was an expensive area to shop and that to get a house in downtown Tokyo, it would cost around 2 million yen. Now that is expensive.

Upon reaching Odaiba, we were bought to see the statue of liberty in Japan, which is a replica of the one found in New York . There was also a man made beach in Odaiba. We were allowed to explore Odaiba for a little while in which we took quite a lot of pictures. We also managed a little bit of shopping which some of us bought some souvior. Afterwards at around 11, We went for lunch. As Afzal and Hanif both were Muslim, They did not join us in having lunch at MacDonald. While at MacDonald, Ying Jie and Myself saw some interesting items on the menu like Ebi Fillet, McPork, Teriyaki burger. We both settled for an Ebi Fillet which cost us around 490 Yen.

We then proceeded to Mirai Kan which is a national museum of emerging science and innovation. There we took a look at the latest cutting edge technology. Such as the latest technology in the world and those found in space technology which was really exciting and interesting.

Afterward we continue our journey to the Bank of Japan where we will learn how the Bank operate as a centre bank and that how it helps to maintain the economy to make sure that there is stability. We also went on a tour of the Bank of Japan vault to see how the money was kept securely .

We then went to the currency museum across the street to view the currency that were found around the world. We saw how the Japanese Yen evolve across the century and how Japan which was mostly a coin society become a dollars and cents culture. We also saw many other notes and coins from other countries and also managed to see a note that was suffering from a very high inflation that it had 21 zero on the note.

After visiting all this places, we travelled to Nagano where we were to spend the night at the Yokoya Onsen Ryokan which is a Japanese style Inn. We had a full course dinner, which had sashimi, vegetable and a wide spread of other food. I enjoyed myself with the food especially the Alaskan crab that was on the table. However Afzal and Hanif did not touch the food as it was not Halal which was a pity as I would have loved to have more sashimi. After Dinner, Ying Jie and myself decided to visit the Onsen (Hot Spring). A thumb of rule while in the Onsen is that if you are given a small towel remember to put it on your head while in the Onsen as that is good practice.
